In today's scripture Peter is saying that we are to live like strangers in the world because we are redeemed from the empty way of life present in the world. We are redeemed from a focused on materialism, a life focused on self and our needs. We are redeemed from a way of life that will leave us empty. We are redeemed from sin and the ways of futility in order to live with and for Jesus Christ. 

In the midst of this pandemic, how do we set ourselves apart? How do we live like strangers in the world?

Just a few ways to live in the world shared in the sermon...

• Quiet your soul - Throughout scripture we read about Jesus going to be alone with God, especially when he was troubled. Now is the time to be still and listen to God, quiet yourself, inviting God to meet you exactly where you are.
• Read your Bible - Just before Jesus began his ministry, he seperated himself for 40 days and nights going into the dessert. At the end of those 40 days and nights he was tempted by devil. Jesus used his knowledge of scripture to conter what the devil tempted him with. As Christians, it's important that we have an intimate awareness of God's Word. When we have questions, concerns, trouble we can find God and God's wisdom in the Word.

2 Timothy 1:7  "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
